Mr Álvarez declared "this project must fill us with pride as Chileans, since it proves we have the human skills to be part of a leading-edge Internet research, and because we continue to be a country that presents positive conditions for attracting great companies".

Rector Riveros signs the agreement.

The Director of Yahoo! research, noted that "in today's world, with economic development in different parts of the world, we can't expect everyone to come to the United States". "Therefore, our philosophy is to use the talent wherever it is, is talent is here, we come here; if this talent is in China, we go to China; if talent is located in Korea, we go to Korea. Then, wherever talent is, we must, as a company, connect with such talent, we can't bring everyonw home and then deal with that. That doesn't work anymore, we can no longer expect that the whole world will come to the United States".

Raghavan further explained that "the Center for Web Research at Universidad de Chile has been a leader in the exploration and discovery of innovative techniques en areas of Web Research and therefore, we are very eager to use this alliance to build leadership and innovation on it".
